Digital Application Checklist

1. Surface Preparation

Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, oil, and old sealants
Use ADT Seal Cleaner or equivalent solvent to clean surfaces
Apply ADT Seal Primer P-100 on porous or difficult substrates (e.g., concrete, masonry)

2. Backer Rod Installation (if joint depth > width)

Select correct size closed-cell polyethylene backer rod (20–30% larger than joint width)
Insert backer rod to proper depth to control sealant thickness and avoid three-sided adhesion

3. Sealant Application

Cut cartridge nozzle at 45° angle to match joint width
Load cartridge into sealant gun
Apply ADT Seal MPU 150 evenly and continuously from bottom to top of joint
Avoid trapping air pockets during application

4. Tooling and Finishing

Tool sealant within 5–10 minutes of application
Use tooling spatula or gloved finger moistened with soapy water for smooth finish
Ensure full contact with joint edges and concave profile

5. Curing

Allow sealant to skin over (~30 minutes)
Ensure full cure (~3 mm per 24 hrs) before exposure to water or stress

6. Application-Specific Notes

Tie Rod Packing: Clean holes; use backer rod; seal tightly
Corner Jointing: Apply generously; allow movement
Expansion Joints: Maintain 2:1 width-to-depth ratio; use backer rod
Crack Repair: Clean cracks; widen if needed; fill completely
Window Joints: Clean frames; mask edges if needed; apply and tool neatly
